These last four days I have been at a seminar here in London.  It was all based around facebook . There were so many speakers telling us their stories and basically how they are all earning a good living of the back of facebook.

Anyone that is involved in Internet Marketing will tell you how fast this industry moves and if you don’t want to get left behind you really do need to keep up with all the latest strategies.

I was amazed at how in a short space of time facebook has moved up the ranks, if it was a country it would be the 3^rd largest country in the world, they have 6 billion users and growing every day.

The average user spends 19.5 minutes a day on facebook & they visit facebook at least 4 times per day. 31% of Facebook users are over the  age of 35 (that is over 150 million people on facebook!)

Facebook already has many great features, but they are going to be introducing more soon, one of which will be their own search engine, another is email, this is a great one, facebook mobile which you will be hearing more and more about, basically facebook can tell you via your mobile phone what local businesses are in the area that you are in at that particular time.

Google is already finding Facebook to be a real threat to them and they have great reason to as well, as facebook in my opinion will take over Google!  The London seminar this weekend just gone was oversubscribed because Facebook is a brand name and everyone knows who or what facebook is, it sells itself  & it is definitely a very powerful marketing medium out there today.

It is amazing to think that 2 students started this up just to keep in touch with their university friends, they would never imagined at the time that they were heading for I believe it is estimated at 6 billion pounds on the market today business, that is well known right around the globe!

Facebook is the most targeted market on the planet.

The industrial mindset says we are in bad times and they could be getting worse, e.g.  look at the  economy etc…. but the Entrepreneur mindset says we are in the best times ever, exciting times, the best time to be born in, as with all this amazing  technology, e.g. internet etc., you can have for example a global business, not just a local business, they actually say it will cost you more to set up a local business than it would to set up a global business via the internet & which one do you think would make you the most money?  Exactly, global,  as now you have the world at your finger tips, not just the local people in your area!

Each one remarkable in their own right and very generous in sharing their secrets & strategies to help the rest of us succeed.  Mark Vurnum, one of the speakers, even created a piece of software and website from scratch and over the 4 days of the event generated $35000.00 which was then given away to one very lucky lady in the audience, not only did she get the $35000.00 but also the website that will continue to make her money.

If you want to be successful in this industry it is vital that you attend these events, as not only will you be kept up todate, as the internet is moving at a very fast rate, but one of the most important aspects is to be able to network with other like minded people.  Also it is at these events that most people get their one great business idea that takes them to the success that they want to achieve.  These are also great places to JV.

They are ruining our industry, why do they do it?  Why mislead people by putting up these websites where they are showing you flashy cars, mansions and pictures of money falling out of the sky!  Many of these sites are just scams, as any true Internet marketer will tell you it’s not all flashy cars, big houses etc., when you start in this industry, it is like any other business you have to put a lot of hard work into it and then if you are successful the rewards come.

Right, so the purpose of this blog today is to set the record straight!  So you want to be an Internet marketer and have your own business, well let me tell you this business is no different to starting up any other business, offline or online.

Like any other business it takes, hard work, sweat and tears, yes tears, as if I am honest with you and this is from someone that has had many offline businesses, I found it the most frustrating business out of all the ones I have had, reason being it was a completely new concept to me and I had a very long learning curve.

I get asked all the time from Newbies, “Can you help me make money today?”  This is from people that don’t even know what Internet Marketing is, my answer to these newbies is, yes you can make money in this industry and a lot of it but first you need to treat this as a business and not a hobby and you need to put the work in, as it is not an overnight get rich quick scheme. 

For example you wouldn’t expect to go into any other professional business and just start work without the right training or experience, eg if you wanted to be a plumber or hairdresser, you would not go into a salon and say, “Hi, I am here who’s hair shall I cut first?”, not having had any training, experience etc, so why do people think it is going to be any different in the Internet marketing industry, there is no magic wand that we are going to wave over you and make you successful overnight.

Every successful Internet marketer if they are honest with you, will tell you how hard it was for them in the beginning, yes sure once you have made it, it really is as great as they tell you and yes you can automate most of your business, but as a newbie you are way off that stage right now.

The first thing you need to do is to learn everything involved in Internet marketing, you need to learn a little of all the various areas involved in this industry and then you need to apply it, so yes you can make money but not today, you are looking between 6 – 9 months and sometimes longer before you will really see the money coming in.

It can be achieved but you have to really want it, desire it because it takes a lot of hard work and dedication and many a times you will want to give up, but if you have what I call a raw desire, you will achieve your goal, stick at it.
